UAB “PakMarkas” recognised as the “Top Employer 2009”


For the third time Lithuania awards the company, which make the greatest contribution to creation of social welfare and reduction of negative impact upon environment. In the category of small and medium enterprises UAB “PakMarkas” was recognised as the “Top Employer 2009”.

 

Companies which managed to get ready for the crisis, promptly reacted to the challenges and initiatives of their employees, solved the problems of crisis by creating employment places, as well as preserved additional guarantees to the employees and maintained the level of remuneration for work were put in nomination of “Top Employer”.

 

UAB “PakMarkas” recognised as the “Top Employer 2009”

 

UAB “PakMarkas” was awarded this prize for good conditions of work at a production site and informal attitude towards people.

 

The national responsible business award was initiated by the Ministry of Social Security and Labour together with the United Nations Development Program in Lithuania, as well as the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Environment.

 

The winners received awards under three nominations: “Top Employer of the Year”, “Top Social Company of the Year”, “Company – the Environment Protector”, and the main prize “Socially Responsible Company 2009”.

 

This year the awards saw the greatest interest of companies since the very beginning of this initiative in 2007. 69 applications were received from 40 enterprises. The most popular nomination among the applicants was the “Top Employer” – as much as 30 applications were submitted.

 

The “Top Employer of the Year” award was presented to Virginijus Gumbaragis, the Director General of UAB “PakMarkas” by Lyra Jakulevičienė, the Head of the United Nations Development Program in Lithuania and Donatas Jankauskas, the Minister of Social Security and Labour.

 

In 2005, UAB “PakMarkas” joined the Global Compact, which was initiated by the United Nations, and undertook an obligation to act in line with ten principles of Global Compact. These principles encourage the businesses to follow in their activity the principles of human rights, rights of the employees and environment protection, as well as to contribute to anti-corruption.
