This year PakMarkas raised its turnover by 22%

Turnover of the packing and labelling solutions company PakMarkas amounted to 10.7 million Litas in the first quarter of this year, i.e. by 22% higher as compared to the same period last year when it was recorded to be 8,7 million Litas. Consistent investments promoted the growth of the company this year.

This year the drop-off in Latas exchange rate brought about lower turnover of the affiliate of PakMarkas in Latvia – turnover increased only by 5%, from 1,7 million Litas in the first quarter last year up to 1,8 million Litas this year.

“Increase in turnover volumes is promoted by the consistent investments into new technologies as well as regularly growing needs of producers and traders to pack and label their products in the environment of growing economy”, says the Marketing Director of PakMarkas Ronaldas Vaitiekűnas.

The Company earns its lion’s share from the production of labels and delivery of the complex packing and labelling solutions to companies. However this year, as the representatives of the company say, the company expects to raise income from the most modern service, i.e. production of shrink sleeves.

„The Company began an active introduction of shrink sleeves on Lithuanian and Latvian markets in the middle of last year. That is one of the most advanced and perspective ways of labelling products in the world. This year we hope to create solid grounds for further best-selling of shrinking sleeves in Lithuania”, notes the representative of PakMarkas.

Pieno ţvaigţdës was a pioneer in introducing the shrink sleeves solution for labelling of the goods last year in Lithuania that successfully labelled milk drinks Miau and Smilgelë. Ţemaitijos pienas also bottles milk into the bottles coated with shrink sleeves, and Vilniaus konservai used the modern technology for security seals of dressing bottles. The producers of mineral water Tichë have been using this new technology for a while.

“Though our gains from this segment are still low, we have great expectations for the future. We hope that after some years the producers of beverages will use such labelling on a mass scale – this is illustrated by the experience of Western and Asian countries”, underlines Mr. R. Vaitiekűnas.

PakMarkas has been supplying successfully new shrink sleeves also for the producers in neighbouring Russia and Latvia; the beer producer Alus avots and the yoghurt producer Gosupi have been actively using this technology in the latter country.

The shrink sleeves enable to use almost all the surface of tare for description of the product; such labels are easy removed; they offer more opportunities for arranging lotteries, etc.

Last year the Company, operating in all the Baltic States, achieved turnover amounting to 49,5 million Litas, that was by 18% higher as compared to 2003 when it amounted to 41,9 million Litas.
